Flagstaff Rhythm and Roots Dance Co. grows our local dance community through offering fun, and dynamic classes, and hosting live music / dance events across Northern Arizona!
Welcome to your first swing dance class!
Lindy Hop is widely considered to be the original swing dance! Swing dancing is one of the most joyful, energetic, and care free pastime’s that dates all the way back to the swinging jazz era of the 1920’s-40’s. Lindy Hop is at its heart, a social dance, with each step made up on the fly on the dance floor. It is a dance that celebrates individuality and self expression! No two dances are exactly the same because no two people are exactly the same. If you’d like to learn, check out our socials to see what events and classes we have going on in town.

What to wear?
Our recommendation is that you wear something that you feel comfortable moving in. There’s no need for special sports clothes, but be prepared to sweat a bit, especially when dancing to faster music! So you might want to bring a spare T-shirt in your bag in case you’d like to freshen up.

Come learn swing and latin dance styles in historic downtown Flagstaff at this weekly event hosted by Rueda en la Montaña. If you’ve wanted to try partner dancing but don’t know where to start, this is the lesson for you! No partner required, just comfortable shoes and an open mind.
This is a free mixed swing/latin dance event that includes a beginner dance lesson at 7pm and social dance from 8-10pm. The lesson alternates each week between latin dance and swing dance styles. The social dance will include both jazz and latin dance music every week. This is a great even to dip your toes into many different styles of dance throughout the summer!
